As of 06/29/2022 the German Bundesamt für Sicherheit in der Informationstechnik (BSI) listed Northwave’s CERT as one of the qualified APT Response Service Providers. With the number of bigger cyberattacks rising, the Advanced Persistent Threats (APT) also go up. This means that the defense against such attacks becomes increasingly important, as well as the recognition of adequate providers of the APT-service.

Northwave is pleased to announce that our dedicated CERT successfully went through the processes required to get qualified by the BSI. Northwave perceives the qualification as an important step towards broadening the accessibility of adequate security services to all organisations that depend on IT.

The need for protective services is rising rapidly because of the ongoing increase in big cyberattacks. This consequently means that Advanced Persistent Threats (APT) are more of a risk as well. Advanced Persistent Threats are cyber-attacks that are long in duration and are aimed at obtaining access to a network long term by an unauthorized party stealing data. This can be extremely harmful to organisations. Hence, proper protection, detection and response are vital in such instances.

Eileen Walther, country manager Germany: “During a cyberattack, victims are under tremendous pressure. The last thing they should worry about during that time is having the right support for their incident response. For that reason, BSI's efforts to continuously update this list of qualified incident responders is of great value."

The BSI uses a competition-neutral procedure to identify qualified service providers that meet these requirements. The Northwave CERT values speed and availability, hence the team is known for their efforts to quickly bring companies back to business and the 24/7 availability in case of an emergency. Our team consists of highly qualified forensic experts, “offensive security” specialists and crisis managers that work together on creating a safer environment online. This is in line with receiving the qualification to be an APT-response service provider, which is why Northwave finds it rewarding to get recognized for this by the BSI
